Microsoft has found various ways to incorporate advertising into Windows 11, a trend that continues with Windows 10. In the latest beta build of Windows 10, it’s evident that Microsoft plans to introduce this change to the older operating system. This update may appear harmless at first, but there’s more to it.
The relocation of advertising is paired with Microsoft’s attempt to promote its Microsoft 365 services, a strategy that has been evident in Windows 11 as well. If users don’t have a subscription, they will be reminded of this in what can only be described as an ad. It’s unlikely that the ads will lead to a significant increase in new subscriptions, compared to the dissatisfaction it may cause among Windows 10 users.
