The latest version of Microsoft’s email client, Outlook for Windows, is now available to both commercial users and personal account holders. Unlike previous rollouts, the new Outlook remains an opt-in experience for now, although this is likely to change in the future. Microsoft has incorporated a significant amount of AI into the update, but there are additional features beyond this. With the opt-in approach, Microsoft aims to give organizations time to migrate gradually before the new Outlook becomes the default and, eventually, the only experience.

Integrating with other Microsoft services like Teams, Loop, and OneDrive, the new Outlook for Windows aims to elevate itself beyond just being an email client. The software also boasts PIM (personal information manager) credentials, helping users to plan their remote or in-office work more efficiently. Features such as setting working hours and location, as well as Copilot integration, are designed to empower users and enhance productivity with AI-powered tools like email summaries, text suggestions, and assistance with replies.
