The recent issue with high CPU usage in Windows 11 has resulted in both good and bad news. The good news is twofold. Firstly, Microsoft has identified the cause of the problem. Secondly, the issue only affects Insider builds of Windows 11.

The bad news, however, is that there is currently no fix available, and there is no indication of when this might change. Users have reported a spike in CPU usage, primarily due to the Cross Device Service. This service is linked to the Phone Link app in Windows 11, and Microsoft has been working on adding new features to this tool. Microsoft’s Jennifer Gentleman has acknowledged the issue in the Feedback Hub and mentioned that a fix is in progress.

However, there have been no further updates from the company since the initial acknowledgment. For those affected by the problem, there are a couple of options. Firstly, users can opt to leave the Windows Insider program and switch to the release version of Windows 11. Alternatively, they can choose to disable the Cross Device Service, although this may have side effects.
