The sluggish performance of Windows 11, particularly the Start menu, has been noted by an ex-Microsoft developer who worked on creating the operating system. Software developer Andy Young criticized the “comically bad” performance of the Start menu despite using high-end hardware. He emphasized the need for Windows to be as good as it once was, pointing out his use of an Intel Core i9-based system with 128GB of RAM and sharing a video of the Start menu’s slow performance.

This is not the first time Young has spoken out about the Start menu. In February, he joked about the lag resulting in unwanted Bing searches rather than app launches. Another user’s response to his performance complaint from two months ago drew attention to ongoing issues with the Start menu.

The significant number of comments on Young’s post indicates that he is not alone in experiencing Start menu performance issues. It remains to be seen if any actions will be taken to address these concerns.
