There are several reasons for feeling frustrated with the operating system; however, there is cause for hope as Microsoft appears to be taking user feedback into account. The latest beta build of Windows 11 has shown important changes to Explorer and Widgets in the taskbar, reflecting this responsiveness to user input. In this update, drag-and-drop functionality has been reintroduced to breadcrumbs in Explorer, a change that will please many users. Additionally, there have been modifications to the Widgets in the taskbar.

The taskbar entry-point will now be located to the left of the systems tray, and it will be wider to display richer content from Widgets. The Widgets board also undergoes changes in its behavior, flying out from the right side when launched, instead of the left side as it did previously. However, there are some issues that need to be addressed, such as the incorrect positioning of the Widgets board when Copilot is in side-by-side mode. Furthermore, turning on or off Widgets in taskbar settings may cause the taskbar to refresh.

It has been some time since Microsoft decided to remove the ability to use drag-and-drop to move files in Explorer, a decision that was made for reasons that were not entirely clear. Despite this, the recent developments indicate a positive shift in Microsoft’s responsiveness to user feedback.
